Brains & Behavior is an initiative at Georgia State University that unites a wide variety of researchers who bring unique perspectives how nervous systems produce behavior. This initiative builds upon Georgia State's successes in the neurosciences, including the NSF-sponsored Center for Behavioral Neuroscience.

There are three Research Groups that form the Brains & Behavior organization:

    Adaptability and Social Behavior
    Molecules & Brains
    Neurons & Networks

The use of the plural “Brains” reflects the diversity of organisms with different types of brains that are studied at Georgia State University.

These groups foster collaborations between faculty from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, Philosophy, Physics and Astronomy, and Psychology.

Brains & Behavior also forms an umbrella organization for Research Centers such as the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience, the Center for Brain Science and Health, the Center for Neuromics, the Language Research Center, and the SouthEast Collaborative Alliance Biocomputing Center.

Brains & Behavior program includes research computing services via
Information Systems & Technology. Advanced Campus Services provides software applications support and University Computing & Communications Services provides computing infrastructure services.
